Cup-Less |
As a step towards zero waste at any of our events, we intent to go cup-less for the 2017 Oldham Way Ultra, this simply means that if you are not carrying a water bottle etc, you will need to bring some form of cup, that way we don't have to dispose off over 600 plastic cups! Before anyone suggests we are been tight, we only pay about £1.99 /100 its simply a huge amount off waste!

Pain Killers! - Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug - NSAID's - Google them! aspirin - ibuprofen - naproxen |
You all should know about this, most of you will know about this but how many off you realise how dangerous an issue it is, I (Wane) know of plenty people I have run with who seem to think popping the odd pain killer is a sensible way to get through!
ITS NOT! If you need them to get you through the OWU, you need to question if you are ready to take on this event, if I catch you with them you won't be continuing, you are not putting our OWU and your life at risk. https://ultrarunning.com/features/running-rhabdomyolosis-and-renal-failure-whos-at-risk/ |
What kit do I need to bring on the day?
|
There are several things that you will need on the day to help you to perform your best. The following list is just a suggestion of what we have found useful - talk to other athletes, Ultra runners, Join a local club who will be able to give you some great advice and develop a list to best suit you. * Warm/suitable clothes for prior to and after the event. Race numbers (collected from registration - pinned/attached to your race t-shirt/top or race belt, and any medical conditions clearly written on the back of your number. You will need to show your race numbers for the duration of the event and at prize giving, to gain access to your kit, to go near the food!
Find out where the event centre is now and have a map of how to get to there, its pointless ringing us 30 minutes before registration because you are lost. (Castleshaw Centre, Castleshaw, Delph, OL3 5LZ) Mandatory kit - Mandatory Kit list regardless of the weather for all competitors, this is the minimum we will expect you to have with you. You will not be starting without the following and if we catch you on the course without we will disqualify you on the spot! You put your own life and our teams life at risk by attempting to cut corners!
|
I am unable to compete - Can I give my place to another person? |
The simple answer is NO, it causes far too many issues with registration both prior too and on event day, causes issues with timing and as a result means we do not offer this option. Please don't ask!
|
How can I check race results?
|
Race results will be published within two days after the race ends, on our website under the 'Event Results'. On the day results will be available from the Race Results centre - Somewhere near the Finish Line. It is your responsibility to visit the website if you want them in a hurry!
|
